About Us

Welcome to Fresh Produce Training & Development, an exciting new partnership to implement change in the Fresh Produce sector.

Backed by 2 experienced fresh produce Consultants with over 60 years experience in the food industry between them (and over 50 in the fresh produce sector), their aim is simple:

Enhance fresh produce companies’ staff’s technical knowledge

Whether this is through online food safety courses specifically aimed at fresh produce hazards (no chicken sandwiches included here); a pathway to train new technical staff in the basics of fresh produce awareness; common assurance standard requirements awareness through to bespoke training for your company, we’re here to help.

David Kennedy and Malcolm Laidlaw have known each other for the past 12 years and are pooling their knowledge from previous technical roles including Bakkavor, M&S, Campden BRI and MyFresh as well as their own technical consultancies to offer specialist food safety and technical training dedicated to the fresh produce industry.

We aim to offer a service whether you are a grower, a packhouse or a fresh produce processor. Whatever your business activity or size, if you deal with fresh produce, we will be able to help you train and develop your staff.

The plan will be to start with our online food safety training courses in the next couple of months, before starting to offer a technical training roadmap to help develop the next generation of fresh produce technical staff.

We have a wealth of knowledge and have been providing training courses for our individual clients for several years. This partnership will help expand the availability of these courses and develop courses for the whole fresh produce sector.

Some of our future courses will include field risk assessment training, farm environmental awareness, farm assurance standard awareness, packhouse auditing, root cause analysis and laboratory result interpretation,

Interested in our courses or want to know more about a bespoke training course, please contact us.
